Amazon.com has just announced that they bought the online retailer Zappos.com for more than $800 million but that the company will be operating independently. Amazon CEO and founder Jeff Bezos feels that Amazon and Zappos can learn from each other.

My question is: since both companies sell shoes won’t they be in competition with each other? Amazon site Endless.com has very good prices on shoes right much better than some of the prices that Zappos charges. Will Amazon raise their prices to match Zappos or will Zappos lower their prices? It’s been said that even though Zappos is being bought out the managers already there will still control what’s going on in the company.
